The Franklin Lions Club is proud to offer the Jim Stephenson-Bill Garrett Memorial Scholarship. It was established in 1996 to honor the memory of two long time members of the club. The one year scholarship for $2,500 is payable in two installments for the freshman fall and spring semesters to the college or university of the student’s choice. The Lions Club is a worldwide service organization whose motto is “We Serve”. The Franklin Lions Club would like to recognize a deserving student from the Franklin area, who exhibits qualities that promote service to the community. The recipient must be an unselfish and caring individual who works to better themselves, but at the same time recognizes the need to offer their services to others. Scholastic and extra-curricular activities will also be considered.
All graduating seniors are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Students must complete the application and provide all the requested documents and signatures. Only completed applications will be considered by the committee.
The completed application should be mailed to the address listed above and must be received no later than April 1, 2024. The winning student, as well as their school, will be notified in time for graduation or awards ceremonies. The recipient and their immediate family will be invited to attend a Franklin Lions Club dinner in June. A formal presentation and pictures for the local newspaper will be made at that time.
The official rules and application are attached. Copies may be made for any student interested in applying for this scholarship. Please contact me with any questions (615) 400-2573.
Sincerely,
Bobby Cook
